Writing on Life, the Universe and Everything.

Everything I have written since 1987, recovered from the formats I wrote it in and kept in one place, because most of the places that published it have closed.

Everything I have written since 1987 is here, in one format, in one repository.

Most of it was published somewhere that has since shut. MichaelDVD is gone. My own site at users.bigpond.net.au is gone. Audioholics is still running, and has lost twenty-three of the figures I gave it — I put those back from my own manuscripts.

The originals were on a backup volume, in the formats I wrote them in: Word 2.0, PowerPoint 4.0, troff, Dreamweaver templates, and a 1992 ARJ archive holding work from 1987. Modern PowerPoint will not open a PowerPoint 4.0 deck. It does not say so, either — it opens nothing and reports no error.

So I converted the lot to Markdown. A hundred and forty-eight articles, 410,788 words, 432 figures, the oldest redrawn as vector from the metafiles Word cached for each embedded object.

Thirty-nine of the original documents sit beside the articles, so anyone can check a reproduction against the thing it was made from. Each article says where it came from and what was repaired on the way.

The first groups below say where a piece was published and the rest say what it is about, so most sit in two. The cloud underneath is the vocabulary across the lot.

I did not do this to be read.

The sites are closing and the software is dying, and the only copy that survives is the one somebody bothered to keep.

Subjects across these articles, sized by the number of articles each one appears in. Each one has a page of its own.
